The Shadow Traps are small bear trap-like creatures that appear in the 2016 Bionicle theme. They take the role of Skull Spiders in the new wave, and they are Umarak's minions. They are able to turn their victims to their side with one bite. They were created by Umarak and they, unlike the Skull Spiders, appear only in the Great Elemental Creatures sets. Umarak has a built-in Trap on his shoulders.
