Sovereign Protector is a nonphysical Star Wars minifigure introduced in 2022.

Background

Acting as bodyguards of Palpatine in the same fashion as the Royal Guard of the Galactic Empire and their successors in the Imperial Praetorian and First Order Praetorian Guards, the Sovereign Protectors were based on the Sith world of Exegol. The most elite members of the Sith Troopers, the Sovereign Protectors were employed to defend Palpatine when his plans seemed in danger of falling apart. However, despite their skill, they proved no match for Rey and Ben Solo.

Notes

• The Sovereign Protectors are one of several Star Wars Legends concepts that have since been reincorporated into canon. In this case, the Sovereign Protectors were originally a new iteration of the Imperial Royal Guard who served under the resurgent Palpatine during the Dark Empire storyline.
