Anya is one of many heroes to take the name of Spider-Girl. She initially went by the pseudonym Araña, but later changed it.
Anya was a normal teenager who found her way in the crossfire between the mystical clans known as the Spider Society and the Sisterhood of the Wasp. In the fight, Anya was badly injured but healed by a mage from the Spider Society in return for her becoming a hunter for their order. She was given a spider tattoo on her back which endowed her with mystical spider powers such as the ability to shoot webs, growing an archanoid exoskeleton, and developing spider-like bolas to serve as drones and weapons.
