SpongeBob SquarePants is a minifigure introduced in 2006, representing the main character in the SpongeBob SquarePants theme.
Description[]
SpongeBob SquarePants' appearance in his television show meant that his minifigure required an unusual design. He bears the shorter, non-articulated legs typically seen on child minifigures. Instead of a regular head, he has a unique sandwichboard-like part featuring his face that connects to the "neck" and slips down over the torso.
Background[]
SpongeBob lives in a pineapple under the sea. Eternally cheerful and optimistic, he constantly gets on the nerves of his egotistical and depressing next-door neighbor, Squidward. They both work at the Krusty Krab for the miserly, manipulative Mr. Krabs. SpongeBob's best friends are Patrick Star, a dopey, overweight starfish, and Sandy Cheeks, a spunky Texan "land squirrel" who lives in an air-filled glass dome just outside of SpongeBob's home town of Bikini Bottom. Frequent themes in the show include SpongeBob's never-ending efforts to get his boating license, and various devious attempts by Mr. Krabs' arch-nemesis, Plankton, to steal the recipe for the popular Krabby Patty.

Order UP! When he's not at the Krusty Krab grilling up the tastiest snack in the sea, SpongeBob can be found with best pal Patrick, stalking wild jellyfish, riding fishing hooks, even competing against a rock in a race. |
Notes[]
- Despite SpongeBob's near-obsessive devotion to his work, his beloved spatula has not been featured in a LEGO set.
- SpongeBob is voiced by Tom Kenny, who also voiced the Ice King from Adventure Time, The Mayor of Townsville from The Powerpuff Girls, The Riddler and The Penguin in LEGO Batman: The Video Game, Nathan Evo and Jetbug in LEGO Hero Factory: Ordeal of Fire, Flain in the Mixels TV series, and Doc Ock in the Ultimate Spider-Man animated television series.
- In the show, he has white sleeves, yellow legs and black shoes, which are all absent on his physical minifigure.
