Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

Despite being befriended by the Ninja, Okino is left despondent regarding the revelation that his entire reality is a video game. After Kai tries-and fails miserably-to cheer him up, the group arrives at the Cliffs of Hysteria, which they must scale in order to continue their search for the first Keytana. Lacking equipment, they are surprised to run across a shop run by Shifty, a salesman who soon puts them on edge. During the transaction, Shifty spots one of Unagami's drones, which puzzles him due to their primary purpose being the collection of energy cubes left behind when players lose all their lives. As Shifty tells the Ninja, Unagami is collecting the cubes for an unknown purpose, which Shifty learned due to the Mad Sushi Chef being one of his customers.

A force of Red Visors soon appears to back up the drone in attacking the Ninja, who begin desperately scaling the cliffs. An intense battle ensues between the climbing Ninja and the flying Red Visors, with Okino despondently deflecting laser blasts with his sword. Eventually the Ninja top the cliffs, and manage to learn that Unagami is using the energy cubes to construct a portal to the real world from a captured Red Visor before it disappears. Okino, fearing that his status as Unagami's creation endangers his friends, expresses the intent to leave them. Lloyd, however, convinces him that he has a will of his own, and the group heads for the Maze of the Red Dragon as ominous energy crackles across the sky.
