The Lost Temple - An Interactive Puzzle Book is an Adventurers Jungle Book released in 1999. It was written by Anna Knight and illustrated by Roger Harris.
Synopsis[]
World Magazine reporters Johnny Thunder and Pippin Read have just finished presenting their experiences to the Explorers Club when Doctor Kilroy rushes in and tells them about Alex Botnik's latest expedition. They hear Alex's voice over a two-way radio; although his message is distorted by static, he tells them about his search for the Curus miraculus flower in Mexico, his discovery of the Sun Disc's location, and a warning about Señor Palomar who is working for an art collector.
At the Harry Cane Airways airport in Mexico, the adventurers meet up with Harry Cane, who gives them an envelope containing Doctor Botnik's map. However, they spot the Pontoon Plane flying away after being stolen by Señor Palomar. They follow Botnik's map (which has clues written backwards) in the Air Zeppelin. A lightning storm causes the Pontoon Plane to crash and forces the adventurers to safely land the Air Zeppelin in a clearing.
The adventurers explore the rainforest and ride Alex Botnik's Scorpion Tracker to Salsa Verde, where they realize Señor Palomar is already ahead of them. At Guacamole Gorge, the bridge has been cut, and the adventurers cross the river using some rope. At the circle of carved stone heads, Pippin realizes all the heads are looking in the direction of their trail. At Piranha Creek, Botnik's boat has been sabotaged by Palomar, but the adventurers plug up the hole using dried reeds and sap. Unfortunately, it is not enough and the boat starts leaking anyway, forcing the adventurers to hurry to the other side of the creek as they sense Achu silently watching them.
The adventurers arrive at the Lost Temple and find the entrance. Inside the temple, the heroes are caught by Señor Palomar, Rudo Villano, and Gabarro, who tie them up. The villains try to steal the Sun Disc, but they are trapped by a giant cobweb that falls on them. Achu reveals himself and magically unties the heroes, then tests their worth by asking them about the temple's age and picking the right flower. Using clues in the temple's paintings, Dr. Kilroy correctly deduces the first question and Pippin successfully chooses the C. miraculus. The villains free themselves from the web and Palomar attempts to steal the Sun Disc again, but he is stopped by Gabarro, who has had a change of heart and now believes the Sun Disc belongs with Achu in the Lost Temple.
In the ending, the adventurers take the C. miarculus flower and sail away on their boat, while Palomar and Villano run off into the misty jungle.
