The Skull Sorcerer is the one hundred and fifty-first episode of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, and the seventh episode of season thirteen.

Plot[]

In her room in the city of Shintaro, Vania worries over the prolonged absence of the Ninja, wondering whether she should go after them herself or alert the Shintaro Royal Guard in spite of the risk of incurring her father's anger. She voices her thoughts aloud to her pet dragon, Chompy; unbeknownst to her, Cole is at that moment dangling by his foot over a sizeable abyss. Spotting a rope hanging from the waste of a skeleton-an unfortunate previous occupant of the wall he is hanging from-he attempts to recover it and pull himself up but ends up trapped above the spikes with a precarious grip. Desperate, he calls out for hep, only to be seized by a flock of Dire Bats, whom he narrowly manages to escape...only to find himself in the lair of a giant spider.

Cole is soon webbed to a rock wall by the beast, only for Vania and Chompy to arrive just in time to rescue him; after a brief tussle, Chompy grows from his cat-like statue to a gigantic size that frightens off the spider. Vania fails to notice this transformation and frees Cole, and the three make their way back up to the Shintaro Gardens where they disturb Wu during a peaceful moment. Upon learning that the other Ninja have not yet returned, Cole informs Wu and Vania of the existence of the Skull Sorcerer. The group quickly agree that they must inform King Vangelis so that the threat can be dealt with.

Vangelis, interrupted in the midst of a meeting, is greatly upset by Vania's disobedience to his orders about the mines. To the horror of his visitors, he reveals that he is the Skull Sorcerer, transforming using the Skull of Hazza D'ur and explaining that he has made Shintaro's fortune by selling Vengestone from the mines to a mysterious client. After a brief confrontation, he opens a trap door beneath Cole and Wu, only for Vania to grab a set of wings. Vangelis warns her not to go after them, informing her that disobedience this time will mean an end to their relationship. Vania, however, chooses right over family, and dives into the pit after her friends.
