The Wrath of Kalmaar is the one hundred and sixty-ninth episode of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu, and the fifth episode of season fourteen.

Plot[]

Nya and Maya awaken to find themselves chained together in the Temple of Wojira, though Maya believes that Wojira is a myth. Nya recounts her friends' recent expedition to the island of the Keepers, only to be confronted by their assailant who introduces himself as Prince Kalmaar. While he is attempting to learn the location of the island from her, he is interrupted by his lieutenant Gripe, who informs him that his father has requested his presence. Back on the Hydro Bounty, Jay's concern for them prompts him to suggest jumpstarting the ship's battery again, which the others reject on grounds of the danger.

At the throne room of Merlopia, Kalmaar meets with his father King Trimaar and his adopted brother Prince Benthomaar. Trimaar demands to know whether his son has once again been sinking ships, a manifestation of his hatred towards "surface-dwellers" that Trimaar denounces. Kalmaar, frustrated with his father's more benevolent attitude, orders Gripe to finish interrogating their captives and eliminate them. Nya and Maya make another escape attempt, and after a brief confrontation with the Maaray Guards manage to lose their bonds and get back to the APS suits.

Gripe orders the Ripper Sharks unleashed on the pair, while a failed attempt by P.I.X.A.L. to restart the Hydro Bounty leads Jay to make the desperate attempt to recharge the battery. The risky operation proves successful, making the Hydro Bounty functional and enabling the group to sail to Nya and Maya's rescue with Jay taking over as captain.
