Thrain is a Minifigure from LEGO The Hobbit: The Video Game.

Background

Thrain was the son of Thrór and the father of Thorin; together they were the ruling family of the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor under the Lonely Mountain. Sadly, their kingdom was stolen from them by the arrival of Smaug, and they and their people were driven into exile. They eventually attempted to reclaim the lost kingdom of Moria only to be met by an army of Orcs led by Azog the Defiler. What followed varies depending on the depiction: in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings novels, Thrain's father was beheaded by Azog prior to a war between the Orcs and the Dwarves, while in the films created by Peter Jackson his father perished during the final battle of said war. In both instances Thrain subsequently disappeared, eventually ending up in the dungeon of Dol Guldur.

In the novels, Gandalf finds Thrain at Dol Guldur before the events of The Hobbit and receives the map of Erebor and the key to its secret passageway from him, at which point Thrain dies. In the films Gandalf had received the key and map prior to The Hobbit but lost track of his whereabouts; he later finds him at Dol Guldur in the extended edition, only for him to be murdered by Sauron.
