Well, according to the forum I got it from, there are going to be a total of eight sets to be released in March, so there's still another five chances :)

There's also apparently a wave of Hobbit sets in the second half of the year to go with the second movie.

Would they be able to include Elrond? Surely that makes the exclusive video game giveaway worthless if you can get him in a set, unless it was a new variant.

I know that, but the person who saw the image(or something) might have not known that. ;)

    • Though it would make more sense for it to be a Ringwraith included, LEGO has shown that they don't mind including figures only loosely tied to a scene/story with Star Wars.

It is possible he only saw a Ringwraith, but I think it is more likely he would mistake the Witch-King for a Ringwraith because of the helmet than the other way around.

Besides, may I remind you that these are only rumors. No need to follow them religiously.

The hood's a placeholder- the actual minifigures (or those closer to being finished) are the ones in the box- in that Gandalf has white hair and is wearing pants, Aragorn has hair, and the Mouth of Sauron isn't a Ringwraith.

Anduril's not out of the question either- he isn't shown with any accessories in the yellow box, the sword could be a placeholder :)

A second tower would be good though- personally I'm not sure how that's 655 pieces, maybe there's more features to come? Although I think it'll just be a more detailed wall and a better tower

Yeah I know. But, there is this; Orcrist was never a piece,it was just the same piece as the Hobbit's Barrow-Blades. Same with Glamdring, which was a regular sword piece. Sting did get a unique mold though. bu I think they will just use a regular sword instead of Anduril because of that with Glamdring and Orcrist.

Compare it to a regular sword. It has it's unique shape, and it's possibly (along with Sting and Glamdring) the most famous sword in the trilogy.

      THE LAST ALLIANCE.

      featuring: Bionicle-sized Sauron - Isildur - Elendil - Elrond Half-Elven - 2nd Age Man - 2nd Age Elf

This would create the perfect excuse to include some amazing new figures [the second age Gondor armor is amazing!]. But on this note, the Lord of the Rings sets cannot survive off of space-ship sets like Star Wars.

The Lord of the Rings needs more CHARACTER-DRIVEN SETS! Exploit amazing characters such as Treebeard, The Balrog [Durin's Bane], The Watcher, Sauron, the Witch King and his Fell Beast, armored trolls, or Mumakil [Oliphants].

There are so many possibilities that would draw both collectors' eyes and the eyes of children who would want to own the awesome ferocity of the fire demon of Moria, or the power behind Sauron before his fall at the Last Alliance. If LEGO plays their cards right in the next few years following the release of the next installments of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit sets could dominate the market alongside the already-popular Star Wars sets.

They actually added too few. The set is (like most sets) overpriced and small. You might want to compare the set to the real gate.

This is true, but what about the other ideas such as The Last Alliance? It seems that LEGO has been having some difficulties pleasing the fans with recent sets. Creating a successful set based on HUGE locations in the films can prove tedious (examples: The Black Gate's missing tower, the lack of wall on Helm's Deep...).

Wouldn't it be smart to create sets featuring Sauron, The Balrog, or Treebeard as opposed to [or at least in addition to] creating more sets with missing details?

      3) Cirith Ungol-Minifigures: Sam (orc gear, dagger), Frodo (orc gear, Sting, ring), Gorbag (whip, scimitar), Shagrat (scimitar) (It should have the tower that opens up, with a box to store Frodo's gear (Sting) and a trapdoor with a box that has the orc armor in it). $49.99

      More ideas to come...

Frodo should have a grey cloak (elven cloak), or else you're just going back to Lothlorien to pick up his old cloak. :P

The Gray cloaks were given to the fellowship by Galadriel in Lothlorien. They were Elven-made, and useful for camoflage as exhibited in the Two Towers movie, when Sam & Frodo use the cloaks to hide from an Easterling.

Very true. I was just thinking the same thing.

    • Does anyone else think that there must be one or two more sets that were not leaked or shown at the toy fair that will be released with this wave? The first wave had seven sets and the Hobbit had six. With Orthanc and Wizard Battle overlapping in part, there must be more sets. There are so many more scenes left to depict!

Unless, does anyone think that Lego will continue releasing LOTR sets (and Hobbit sets) past three waves? I assumed there would be 3 LOTR and 3 Hobbit waves. Now I am wondering if LOTR/Hobbit will be another continuously releasing theme like Star Wars, even after the movies are over with.

Also, did anyone notice that the Lord of the Rings home page on the Lego website has changed? I have a feeling the new sets will be up soon!

They won't make Minas Tirith or Barad-dûr unless they make it UCS or micro or something.

Edoras is possible, I'd love Edoras.

Also, Fíli's hairpiece is useful to use as Éomer's hair.

    • I'm fairly certain this will be a 2013 Hobbit set: Attack on Dol Gul-Dur!(the place Radagast saw the Necromancer) It would have large castle-like ruins with collapsible columns and statues that come to life! Minifigures would include: Radagast the Brown, Lady Galadriel, Gandalf the Grey, And The Witch-King perhaps. Oh! and The Necromancer of course!!(That way you can cross over into LotR).

And where do you have proof that this is even a scene in the upcoming movie? If you do have proof, please do share. Not to be impolite, but if you're going to say you are "fairly certain" there should be at least a little evidence to back it up.

Dol Gul-dur is in the first Hobbit movie, where Radagast fights the spirit of the Witch-king.

Well, yes, I know that. But how about the characters in his set? Galadriel and Gandalf weren't a part of that scene. If this is based on the movie (Yes, I know the backstory of Galadriel destroying Dol Gul-dur in the war of the ring) then neither of those characters make sense. Not to mention, if they were going to make a set of this scene, wouldn't they have done it in the first wave?

It should include Radagast and maybe the spirit of the Witch-king.

Haldir in guard captain variation. They need to re-do his face though. It doesn't look like Haldir.

I think so. In the books, they're called Black Riders on horses, but on fell beasts, called Nazgûl.

Oh, really? I was fairly sure that they were Nazgul, no matter what their mount...but I could be wrong. Either way Ring Wraith = Nazgul = Black Rider = 9 Men to get rings

I agree. Haldir looked too much like Legolas. But yeah, guard Haldir would be a cool edition.
