Well, in my opinion there should be a separate template for characters from "The Hobbit". Right now, the characters are combined into the LoTR template. The Hobbit and LoTR are 2 separate themes. It kinda looks messy having them all smooshed into one, and it would make more sense for a separate "The Hobbit" character template. I'd even be willing to make the template, if anything.

Saying that these are separate themes is like saying that each of the Star Wars movies are separate themes.
No it isn't.
As a matter of fact, each of the Star Wars movies is a separate theme..
No, they are sub-themes, LEGO do not list on the theme pages each one separately, just Star Wars. If we considered each film as a theme, then we'd list them separately on year pages and the like. (And actually, the final three are grouped)
LEGO seperated them in themes that's a good reason.
So why did they do that when they did not split Star Wars? My guess is that Star Wars is the headline of all the films or chapters. The Lord of the Rings is the headline of three books but not the headline of the Hobbit. So there is not a headline superior to the other and therefore not possible to make a single theme (other than J. R. R. Tolkien?)
I agree that we need them in separate templates. It does look kinda messy just, two separate themes, just flung together. Yes they can be related, with minifigures like Bilbo, and Gollum. But the others need their own template, including minifigures that were placed in the other template for reference.
