Unikitty! is an American-Danish animated fantasy family comedy television series for Cartoon Network. While the series premiered on January 1, 2018, three sneak previews, "Spoooooky Game", "Sparkle Matter Matters", and "No Day Like Snow Day", premiered on October 27, November 17, and December 1, 2017, respectively. It is the third spin off installment of The LEGO Movie franchise following The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie at that same year, and stars Unikitty, a character originally introduced in the first film in the franchise, as the main character. Unikitty's brother Puppycorn makes an appearance in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The show has ended on August 27, 2020.

Description[]

As ruler of the kingdom, Unikitty has busy days full of royal responsibilities. Unikitty is most interested in making sure everyone is happy and ridding the kingdom of negativity, but don’t misunderstand her optimism – she is one kitty not to be crossed. While she may be full of boundless energy and creativity, Unikitty is a force to be reckoned with if anyone gets in the way of spreading her positive vibes, especially if anyone makes her little brother and best friend, Puppycorn, sad. Also living in the castle are Dr. Fox, the resident scientist, and Unikitty’s trusty bodyguard, Hawkodile. Through it all, Unikitty and her friends make sure that every day is the happiest and most creative ever.

Notes[]

  • Although this isn't canon to The LEGO Movie, instead of taking place in Cloud Cuckoo Land like in The LEGO Movie, the series takes place in Unikingdom and it's polar opposite rival Frown Town, though this universe does not feature minifigures (only in the opening sequence).
  • Despite not featuring minifigures and wasn't canon to The LEGO Movie, the characters weren't brick-built figures in the show, this is probably because its a TV show in The LEGO Movie universe before Unikitty appeared as a brick built figure based on the title character of the show.
  • This is the first and only production in The LEGO Movie franchise to be 2D-animated (and the third 2D traditionally-animated LEGO TV show overall, after Mixels (another LEGO show that doesn't involve minifigures) and LEGO Elves: Secrets of Elvendale).
  • Unikitty is the only character introduced in The LEGO Movie to appear in the series proper, though there are two minifigures appear at the beginning the opening sequence.
  • The two astronauts in space watching Unikitty was animated in stop-motion at the start of the show's intro.
  • The first episode to air in another country before in the USA was "Scary Tales" which aired in the UK.
  • A episode titled "Batkitty" spoofed The LEGO Batman Movie.
  • The Unikingdom and Prince Puppycorn make an appearance in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part.

The LEGO Group released some merchandise based on the show with a theme of LEGO sets releasing in August 2018 and two books LEGO Unikitty! Activity Book (with a buildable Unikitty figure) and LEGO Unikitty! Unikitty’s Guide to Being Happy are set to be released on August 28, 2018.
