Wes Jenkins was the Creative Director of 5731 LEGO Island and both a Creative Lead and senior producer at LEGO Media International, where he worked on various titles including LEGO My Style: Preschool, LEGO My Style: Kindergarten, and LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge.[1]

Biography[]

Before working with the LEGO Group, Wes Jenkins worked for Bill Graham Presents, Five Star Ranch, California Academy of Sciences, and Stormfront Studios,[2] of which LEGO Media would later partner with for the LEGO My Style titles. He also headed Radio Shorts,[3] a radio comedy show, where he worked with several musicians that later worked on LEGO Island. Wes Jenkins was later hired by Mindscape in 1992 where he would on several titles before starting work on LEGO Island as Creative Director by early 1995.

During the development of LEGO Island, he created and wrote much of the game's design, script, and characters, along with a physical model of LEGO Island with his wife, Kyle.[4] Wes also worked on a physical minifigure of the Infomaniac, which would become the first minifigure designed outside of the LEGO Group.[5] While Wes did not intentionally model the Infomaniac after himself, many people have pointed out their similarities, and Wes noted that he related to the character in an odd way.[4] Wes Jenkins also developed pitches, scripts, and art for LEGO Sea Challenge, LEGO Adventurers, LEGO Space: UFO Invaders, and LEGO Castle, before Mindscape management fired him and the development team the day before release to avoid giving them bonuses.

After a brief stint at Sierra Online, following Mindscape, Wes Jenkins was hired by LEGO Media International as a Creative Lead and Senior Producer. During his time at LEGO Media, he headed up the LEGO Learning range of software titles, was a part of the concept development group, and contributed to the script for LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge. After he had left LEGO Media, Silicon Dreams Studio used various character bios he had written for reference during the development of Island Xtreme Stunts.[6][7][8]
